So excited to be a part of this new Australian work, Findr – a dramatic song cycle about two people who catfish each other.

“They say in musical theatre that songs occur when the emotion of a situation is too much for a character to bear. However, what happens if singing is the norm in a work and there is no dialogue? What happens when the emotion for the character is too much to bear?”

Here is a link to an article from CutCommon – an interview with the composer, Adrian Kingwell. Read here to hear his creative process, and get an insight into how this project all came together!

“What do you hope audiences will take away from your song cycle?

Firstly, I hope they enjoy it!

Secondly, I hope, in the best way possible, it challenges their preconceptions of what musical theatre is and what classical music is, respectively.

Finally, I hope it makes them ask themselves, would I ever catfish someone?”

Another night at home, another night in front of their screens.

Troy and Emma are on opposite sides of the city, but they are both searching for the same thing: something, anything, to bring their life some purpose. Aimlessly clicking, they serendipitously stumble across findr – a place for creating meaningful relationships.
They find a real connection with each other, but are they really themselves?

The world premiere of findr will see Adrian Kingwell’s song cycle brought to life for the stage. Accompanied by a chamber ensemble, findr tackles how curiosity, boredom and insecurity colour the way we find love in the digital age.

Happy New Year music lovers!!

Wishing you all a wonderful year filled with family, friends, and love.

I am looking forward to an exciting year ahead, and have already started the planning for upcoming concerts (we’ll let you know soon!). In the meantime, here is a snippet of Samantha Warhurst (soprano), Glenn Amer (piano) and myself performing The Prayer recently. I love this song – it is so hopeful – appropriate as we start a new year.

We dream a world without violence, a world of justice and faith. Everyone gives the hand to his neighbours. Symbol of peace, of fraternity. We ask that life be kind and watch us from above. We hope each soul will find, another soul to love.

However, what classifies as a “real job” in the music sector? Musicians must not only excel as performers, but also as teachers, leaders and creative collaborators – and their professional development must reflect this.
